#8888 new defect

Unabled to pass Command-Q (Super-Q/Win-Q) to guest machine from OSX host

Reported by: dlee Owned by:
Component: GUI Version: VirtualBox 4.0.6
Keywords: shortcut Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: Mac OS X

Description

First of all, Command-Q is assigned to Quit, so I had to change that shortcut key assignment by doing:

defaults write org.virtualbox.app.VirtualBoxVM NSUserKeyEquivalents '{"Quit VirtualBox VM"="@^q"; "Hide VirtualBox VM" = "@^h";}'

However, even after the shortcut key has been changed, Command-Q is not passed to the guest machine. Virtualbox silently absorbs the shortcut and doesn't do anything with it.

I have observed this behaviour with 4.0.10 and also with Command-H.

Note that when using a Dvorak keyboard layout (host & guest), the physical Command-Q and Command-H keys are absorbed, even though pressing physical Q types ' and physical H types d.

Might be related to #5684 and #4208.
