Description (last modified by )
Host: Windows Server 2008 64-bit Guest(s): Windows Server 2008 32-bit and Windows XP 32-bit
The process is as follows:
- VM instance is running for several days in a row
- User clicks start > shutdown > confirm
- Screen shows "saving settings / shutting down" and stays there
- Clicking "X" to terminate machine yields nothing
- Eventually windows says the instance is not responding
- I must open up the processes and terminate the offending process manually
This occurs quite frequently.

Still relevant with VBox 3.0.4? If so, does it happen after you uninstalled the guest additions?

As an additional note to the behavior, if I attempt to shut down multiple instances on the same machine and the first one freezes, the rest will freeze too. Once I terminate the first one's process, the others actually terminate properly.
That said...
I experienced the problem on 2.2.x, but have not noticed since moving to 3.0.2. We will be conducting maintenance on some machines soon which will require shutdowns, so I will post back on whether those were successful or not.

Please reopen if this relevant (update to VBox 3.0.8 is recommended).
