Description
Hello,
Recently downloaded VirtualBox under Windows, and I'm struggling to run Debian 8.11.1 (Jessie) as my guest OS.
At the moment, I've tried to boot it from a DVD iso (after successful installation), but as soon as it's meant to login the screen prompts a message like "Something went wrong, and the system can't recover"...
I've read this might be due to VBox graphical settings, and that a VBoxSVGA controller was suggested in place of VMSVGA.
Almost nothing changed by enabling or disabling 3D acceleration...
Please, can you help?
Mine was the first installer from here: https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/archive/8.11.1/amd64/iso-dvd/
Thanks

Hi Antonin,
VirtualBox 6.0.24 is no longer supported. Try to update to the latest version (6.1.34 currently) from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads. Don't forget to update Guest Additions as well (menu Devices -> Insert Guest Additions CD image...).
If problem persists, please attach VBox.log.

Hi,
Actually I shouldn't switch to 6.1.x because I'll need desktop virtualization for my assignment...
Also, before trying out Jessie I was using Bullseye and I didn't encounter such an issue. So I can't figure out why it wouldn't work with an older dist :/

Hi Antonin,
I cannot help much with unsupported version, but maybe VBox.log could show more details.
