solved (parcialy)
sudo usermod -a -G vboxusers $USER sudo update-grub
and reboot
VBoxVNC is pending (how to uninstall and install?)

!VBoxVNC is a 3rd party feature, so can't really comment.
The "no USB devices shown" issue is related to the vboxusers group (has nothing to do with update-grub whatsoever), and it is documented for a very long time in the manual: https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch02.html#install-linux-vboxusers
We'll see how we can remind users in the GUI sensibly, without annoying users where the admin decided that USB is not to be made available to VMs. One day.
