#17688 closed defect (duplicate)

Guest Additions no longer compile on latest RHEL 7.x -> duplicate of #17676

Reported by: Mike Smith Owned by:
Component: guest additions Version: VirtualBox 5.2.8
Keywords: rhel guest additions build fail Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: Windows

Description

After upgrading my local RHEL VM (7.2), guest additions fail to fully compile (some features still working, such as host-shared folder) - specifically display screens functionality is broken. Can no longer attach multiple monitors nor adjust screen resolution. Built a fresh 7.5 VM with just the following commands applied: sudo yum -y upgrade sudo yum -y groupinstall "Development Tools" sudo yum -y install kernel-devel Then installing the guest additions CD still fails with same reason, see build log attached.

Virtualbox 5.2.10 DID NOT fix this problem. Still happening. Can't install guest additions in RHEL 7.5. Compile failures.

Looks like a duplicate of #17686.

I don't think this is a duplicate of #17686. This problem, which affects the screen handling portion of guest additions, seems related to some DRM changes in RHEL 7.5, not related to VLANs.

Upgrading Virtualbox (and extensions pack) to 5.2.12 has now resolved the issue for me.
