ImgBurn hangs if passthrough enabled

Description
Host: OpenSuse 12.1 Guest: Windows XP with SP3
Software:
- VirtualBox 4.1.10 Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack
- AnyDVD 7.0.2.0
- Imgburn 2.5.7.0
1) If I disable passthrough for my DVD drive, Imgburn works fine. I can create an ISO from a movie DVD. Problem: AnyDVD complains that it can't find find the DVD drive.
2) If I enable passthrough, AnyDVD recognizes the DVD drive. Problem: VirtualBox hangs when Imgburn sends the "Seek (10)" command. Not just ImgBurn, but the entire virtual machine. Closing Imgburn via the task manager doesn't help, I have to shut down the virtual machine. This happens both with and without AnyDVD running.
- Playing a movie DVD with VLC works fine, even with passthrough enabled.
- ImgBurn doesn't hang in a "real" installation of Windows XP. This installation is entirely separate from the one I'm having trouble with (no RAW mount).
