| #3850 | obsolete | dolphin and systemsettings lose window title menu shadow after running vm with 3d acceleration | ||
| Description |
in a kde4 host environment, enable window effect "Shadow" so windows and menus will have shadows. then enable a vbox virtual machine's "3D Acceleration" property and then run the vm. now open a dolphin or systemsettings and right-click its window title. you will find the menu without shadow. |

| #3983 | invalid | specifying guest os version can cause problem | ||
| Description |
VBox allows a user to specify a guest os' version, e.g. for Linux, he can specify Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE, etc. this has advantages but can also cause problems that leave the user clueless. for example, running an openSUSE 11.1 + KDE4 live cd image in vbox and specifying the os version as "openSUSE" will cause the live os to stop responding at booting phrase. fedora 9, 10, 11 live os images also have such problems. so i suggest that vbox clearly specify supported versions, e.g. "openSUSE 1.0 - 11.0" instead of "openSUSE", so that if i'm running openSUSE 11.1 in vbox and encounter a problem i would suspect i'm using an unsupported guest os version number. i also suggest that vbox rename "Linux 2.6" to "Linux 2.6 (Use this if you have problems)". |

| #14009 | obsolete | Issue when installing Guest Additions | ||
| Description |
I have used VB in quite a few setups (VB ver: 4.3.0/4.3.10/4.3.26; host: Win 7/8; guest: Ubuntu 12.04.5, Ubuntu 14.04.2-64 bit, Ubuntu 14.04.2-32 bit, Centos 7.0) and never bumped into this issue until I got this new laptop. This new laptop is Lenovo T440 with Intel i7-4600M/8G RAM running Win7 Enterprise. It doesn't have a video card. After creating a new VM (2G RAM, 32G disk) running Ubuntu 14.04.2-64 bit, I click Insert Guest Additions CD image. Then I got this error: VirtualBox Guest Additions installer Copying additional installer modules ... Installing additional modules ... Removing existing VirtualBox non-DKMS kernel modules ...done. Building the VirtualBox Guest Additions kernel modules The headers for the current running kernel were not found. If the following module compilation fails then this could be the reason. Building the main Guest Additions module ...done. Building the shared folder support module ...fail! (Look at /var/log/vboxadd-install.log to find out what went wrong) Doing non-kernel setup of the Guest Additions ...done. Installing the Window System drivers Warning: unknown version of the X Window System installed. Not installing X Window System drivers.
Installing graphics libraries and desktop services components ...done. Press Return to close this window... I have tried VB 4.3.0/4.3.10/4.3.26 and various Ubuntu/Centos guest mentioned above and I got the same error. |
