| #2819 | worksforme | 2.1.0 No 64-bit guest on 2 dual-core Opteron Win XP x64 host | ||
| Description |
From my forum posting: I have a HP xw9400 with 2 dual-core Opteron 2200's running Win XP x64 Edition SP2 and 4 GB ram. AMD-V is enabled in bios. Had previously played with 2.0.6 and could load Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit guest. OpenSolaris 2008.11 and Solaris 10 10/08 installed but only ran as 32-bit guests. All Extended CPU settings were enabled and Ubuntu was very fast while the Solaris releases had very poor speed response. I upgraded yesterday to 2.1.0 and Ubuntu will no longer boot - complained that there was no x64 processor present but the logfile shows 2.1.0 definitely correctly recognizes the Opterons. I killed all VM's, uninstalled, ran a clean install of 2.1.0 and still no success. Cannot install Ubuntu 8.10 because installer says I do not have x64 enabled processor! OpenSolaris install is still 32-bit guest on boot. Log file from last Ubuntu 8.10 install attempt are attached. |

| #3252 | duplicate | 2.1.0 guest crash after running non stop for over 2 weeks | ||
| Description |
I've come to my computer this morning and found that my Windows XP guest has crashed and I have a 'Guru mediation' message on screen. This computer has been running fine for a long time, I think the log shows that it's been fine for just over 16 days, and I'd been away from the machine for 3 days when it crashed. If I were to guess, I would suspect it's a problem related to the Dameware Mini Remote Control program that's running. Dameware has always been fine when run on regular computers, but seems to cause problems when run inside virtualbox. A few of us have reported problems with Dameware, and while it's better with the new versions of virtualbox, it still seems to cause problems: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2380 I don't seen anything in the release notes saying this has been fixed in 2.1.2, but I'm upgrading to 2.1.2 now regardless to see if its any better. |
