#4603 fixed virtualbox OS (winxp) will not start at all under linux with kernel 2.6.30.2-1 djg1971
Description

Ever since upgrading to linux kernel 2.6.30-whatever I cannot use virtualbox at all. Is anyone looking into this? The virtualbox kernel modules compile and load fine, and the virtualbox gui starts up fine. But when I try to boot the guest OS, it just fails and says windows cannot start normally, asks if I want to go into safe mode, etc. I had thought this was a known problem with 2.6.30-xxx linux kernels (running at least some versions of linux) and that eventually it would be fixed with a new vb release, but so far nothing in more than a month.

Is this a known issue? Is anyone working on it? If it doesn't get sorted out soon I will have to wipe VB off and try vmware...

#4604 fixed NAT/PortForwarding regression with 3.0.x -> fixed in svn Niagara
Description

I'm using VirtualBox to run StarCraft under Windows XP as guest and Debian Linux as host. When playing online, it is neccessary to forward some ports to the guest, what hasn't been a problem with all 2.1.x and 2.2.x releases. With release 3.0.0 and 3.0.2 this isn't working anymore. I still can connect to online games as it is expected even without portforwarding but others cannot connect to the games I create. After downgrading to 2.2.4 everything works fine again.

#4606 fixed Upgrading from 2.2.4 to 3.0.X cause 'Extras' for Visual Effects on Ubuntu 9.04 to not work anymore. Miguel
Description

When upgrading from VirtualBox 2.2.4 to 3.0.2, my Ubuntu 9.04 (64bit) Guest is unable to turn on 'Extras' Visual Effects on Ubuntu, even after updating the Guest Additions. I have also tried a fresh install of VirtualBox 3.02 on my system and installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu 9.04 (64bit) on it. I then installed Guest Additions 3.0.2, installed Desktop Effects, installed Compiz Config, (by this time in VBox 2.2.4 the 'Extras' option works) and VirtualBox 3.02 says 'Extras' cannot be enabled. When using VirtualBox 2.2.4, I am able to turn on 'Extras' on Ubuntu 9.04 with no problem.
