| #4588 | fixed | DXTn/DXTC texture compression, aka GL_EXT_texture_compression_s3tc -> Fixed in SVN. | ||
| Description |
Since Virtual Box is passing the work to the real graphics driver (where the S3 patented algorithms implementations live), it seems that it could reveal that it has this capability and make it accessible when the underlying driver supports it. This would increase the success likelihood of Direct3D 6.0+ mapped to OpenGL calls (because Direct3D 6.0 requires DXTX which is just a renamed form of S3TC) http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=19501 http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/4495 There are also pure OpenGL applications that depend upon S3TC, such as Call of Duty and NASA World Wind: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/2801 http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/java/demos/ |

| #4590 | fixed | vboxnet0 has 255.0.0.0 netmask => fixed in SVN | ||
| Description |
After installing
I get
Look at the netmask. That covers a good deal of the "real net". That should be ffff0000. Here is the story for people googling: This causes named to be unresponsive fail not answer. This is because the root dns it seems to prefer is within the public 192.x.x.x range, but those requests go to vboxnet0 now. |

| #4594 | fixed | Cannot install Windows 2000 Professional guest | ||
| Description |
Installation of Windows 2000 Professional would cause restart of the VM after the network step, and will repeat the setup (Locale, CD-key etc.) upon reboot. This will loop indefinitely, and I have yet to have success in a total installation. Powering the machine off and then on, without the Windows CD in the drive, would cause a Guru Meditation. Host: Windows XP Professional SP3 |
