| #15233 | invalid | CD/DVD Drive Disappeared in Windows XP Guest | ||
| Description |
I have several Windows XP 32 bit guest virtual machines on Windows 8.1 64 host. On more than one of these the CD/DVD has disappeared. No matter what settings are changed under storage in the manager for the cd/dvd drive it doesn't show up. It's like the driver disappeared on the guest. The issue has been there since version 4.3 and I'm not exactly sure when it disappeared. The CD/DVD drive does not show up under the hardware tree in windows or under My Computer as shown in the attached image. It appears to be there from the virtual box side of things but since it isn't in windows I cannot access it. This is a physical internal drive, not USB and I can see it on other Windows XP 32 bit machines I have, as shown in another attached picture. Not knowing exactly how this is virtualized through virtual box my assumption is the driver for Windows got corrupted somehow and needs to get reinstalled??? I was able to install guest additions through an iso mounter and a shared folder in hopes this might correct it but no change. |

| #4401 | duplicate | Windows XP guest hangs on exit | ||
| Description |
I've got a strange problem : The Windows XP guest on my wife's computer cannot exit. When I try this, it starts closing but hang there indefinitely. I tried closing it though the normal way and then by sending the close signal from VirtualBox. The computer is a HP DV3 laptop with an ATI HD 3200 card (more on that below), and runs on Ubuntu 9.04. Processor is an AMD Turion X2. The funny thing is, I tried her guest "hard disk" on my HP laptop which has almost the same specs except the video card (it's an Nvidia in this case), and everything works fine there. Also, I've just tried again on her computer, and while XP was stuck in exiting, I switched to full screen : it closed XP, but not properly, the state of the guest remaining "Aborted" I'm begining to thing this has something to do with the video card. Can you help me? |

| #15617 | fixed | VB 5.1.0 File > Preferences crash on Mac OS 10.11 (Karabiner, Qt bug) | ||
| Description |
Hi, I am running Mac OS 10.11.3 and have upgraded VirtualBox from 5.0.24 to 5.1.0. When trying to open global VirtualBox preferences via VirtualBox.app > File > Preferences, VirtualBox crashes due to a segfault. Emptying ~/Library/VirtualBox and relaunching with a new profile does not help. This issue was not present in VB 5.0.24. This issue occurs with the old 5.0.24 extension pack installed and the latest version of the extension pack (installed via VBoxManage extpack). Let me know if you need other information. I've not included VBox.log files as this happens irrespective of if VMs have been running or not. Thanks, Nathan |
