| #11242 | obsolete | VirtualBox frontend WH_KEYBOARD_LL global hook issue | ||
| Description |
Host OS: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit When using the VirtualBox frontend, the WH_KEYBOARD_LL global hook, which gets activated when the VirtualBox VM window comes in focus (UIKeyboardHandler::eventFilter), interferes with the keyboard input of all other processes, if the VirtualBox process is suspended (e.g. while being debugged). The result is each pressed key is delayed several seconds, while the OS is somewhat frozen (not responding as usual). That makes local debugging impossible, if the execution of the VirtualBox frontend gets interrupted while the VM window is in focus. I don't know if it would fix the issue, but the MSDN documentation does state: "All global hook functions must be in libraries." http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms644990%28v=vs.85%29.aspx Could Raw Input be an alternative? You should be able to reproduce the issue using a timed execution of Sysinternals PSSuspend tool, while the VM window has focus: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897540 |

| #11250 | obsolete | Wrong display of non-ASCII characters (umlauts) in file and folder names shared from windows host to linux guest | ||
| Description |
Host: VB 4.2.4, Windows 7 Guest: Linux (ROSA 2012 Marathon) with Additions 4.2.4 When I share a folder from Windows host to Linux guest, files and folders containing German umlauts (and probably other non-ASCII characters) are displayed incorrectly. E. g. "Antikörper" becomes "Antikrper". This happens in the KDE filemanager (Dolphin) as well as on the konsole. The affected files and folders are inaccessible from the guest, even after manually replacing with the correct character. This seems to be a regression introduced with guest additions 4.2.0 (I confirmed this for 4.2.0, 4.2.2, and 4.2.4), since it does not happen when I use guest additions 4.1.22 or previous with my 4.2.4 host. |

| #11251 | obsolete | USB not working at all (all devices are busy) | ||
| Description |
USB devices in drop-down list are ALL in "busy" state. If I try to attach one (a USB 232 converter in this example) I get the following error: Failed to attach the USB device Prolific Technology Inc. USB-Serial Controller [0300] to the virtual machine WinXP Devel.
USB device 'Prolific Technology Inc. USB-Serial Controller' with UUID {1e04c48b-fcb2-4509-bfba-8ea06084b6be} is busy with a previous request. Please try again later.
Result Code: E_INVALIDARG (0x80070057)
Component: HostUSBDevice
Interface: IHostUSBDevice {173b4b44-d268-4334-a00d-b6521c9a740a}
Callee: IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}
Sometimes, instead, the device becomes "captured" but nothing happens (device is NOT attached) and retrying to attach it yields the same error as above. This does NOT seem to happen on linux host. Log is attached. |
