#2267 fixed After an unfriendly shutdown of a Windows Guest I can't boot Windows anymore (osx leopard host) luposlip
Description

I use Windows XP as a guest on OSX Leopard (on a macbook pro) using VirtualBox 2.0.2.

Yesterday I'd started the Windows XP guest (as always), when suddenly there were no more power on the laptop battery. It was late, so instead of attaching the power supply, I just closed the lid. I shouldn't have done that..

Because today when I booted OSX and afterwards tried to start the Windows XP host, I just got this error: {{{A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart}}}

I have my email on this disk (ok, perhaps that was a little bit stupid..), so I'm really desperate to get the disk working again.

Please advise! Thanks in advance..

#2268 fixed Update vm description while running gbuonfiglio
Description

I use the vm description to take notes about their updates and maintenance. For example:

  • 2008-09-17: Updated Guest Additions to version 2.0.2
  • 2008-09-17: Antivirus updated to version 0.9.4

To do this I take notes on a host editor and updates the description after stopping the vm. I guess it would be valuable to make this editable while the vm is running. Maybe even more valuable would be some kind of "ChangeLog" that could automatically save hardware definitions changes and also custom entries like the ones above. Just another idea... ;)

Best Regards, Guilherme

#2269 fixed Install failure for Ubuntu 8.04 on Vista 32-bit host -> fixed in SVN/2.1.4 Van
Description

Using this ISO: ubuntu-8.04.1-desktop-i386

Very plain setup as I am new to VirtualBox. I have a WindowsXP guest running and working perfectly.

Upon starting the installation, the initial Ubuntu screen comes up to start the install. When going forward with the installation I see the 'loading linux kernel' bar and when it disappears the Vb screen goes black and my whole machine locks up requiring a hard reset.

Being new here, I am not sure about the information I need to provide. I do not know which component to choose for this ticket. If anyone can give me guidance I will be happy to oblige.
