Windows boot hangs after MacBook Pro update
|
|
Mravik Attila
|
| Description |
I run VirtualBox on a MacBook Pro (model id MacBookPro3,1) with Os X 10.5.7, Darwin 9.7.0.
After my last software update (which included a firmware update, MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.3) VirtualBox is not running as desired. I have 2 guests both Windows XP SP3. I have one with 128 megabyte of ram which is a simple windows installation with a snapshot, and I use that disk as base for my other windows guests.
It boots normaly and I can shutdown it from windows.
My other guest is not shutdown, but suspended with machine state saved to disk. It restores machine state fine and seems to work properly, saving the machine state again works fine.
Now I wanted to make a new guest, after I made one using a differencing disk from the mentioned base install it does not boot. It stops mid boot even in safe mode.
I tried to make a new virtual machine and install Windows from the iso image mounted as cdrom. It failed with an upredicted error. The status of the virtual machine was: aborted. After deleting VirtualBox and reinstalling it, the new install succeded. I can also use the snapshot of the new installation to create another virtual machine with differencing disk. But my original installation is not working. The hang seems something like this: http://cquirke.mvps.org/sp2intel.htm
