| #10763 | obsolete | LITEON 12x Blu-Ray Writer not showing up as host drive VirtualBox First Run wizard when creating VM and CD/DVD devices on Max OSX host. | ||
| Description |
I have an iMac (2009) Intel Core Duo 1TB Hard Disk and 4Gb RAM. I am trying to use an External LITEON 12x Blu-ray Writer with VirtualBox. It doesn't appear in the list of CD/DVD devices to add to the VM when running. The description of the Blu-ray Writer from Disk Manager is:- ATAPI eHBU212 2 It does appear in the USB devices as:- USB3.0 External Mass Storage Device [0100] More importantly you cannot select the External Blu-ray writer as a CD/DVD device in the First Run wizard when creating a new VM. This has the effect of stopping the loading of OS'es on CD/DVD in VirtualBox. Even without the First Run Wizard you cannot then select it as a drive in the VM window using the "Devices" tab, and thus can't select it as a boot device. My internal CD/DVD drive has started to scratch disks, and I have had it repaired twice and it still does it! Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux 12.04 can both see and use the drive, however without VirtualBox recognising it I can't use it to load Operating Systems. The First Run wizard just gives the choice of the internal drive as an option to load a physical CD/DVD. I am running MAC OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8. and VirtaulBox 4.1.18 r78361. |

| #10769 | obsolete | VirtualBox unnecessarily enables USB 2.0 web camera when starting a VM | ||
| Description |
Even with all USB functionality disabled in VirtualBox settings, upon start-up of a VM, my webcam turns on (activity LED lights up). I do not want to use the webcam in the VM and even if the issue is benign and harmless, it still *feels* like I am being spied on. Having the camera on feels like a security breach. Incidentally, the camera is still available to the host. Please see this forum thread for complete details: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=40682 The following three tickets appear to be the same issue... I am re-posting the issue again in order to get some attention, because the other three tickets are still open issues and the oldest one goes back three years! See Tickets #10091, #6489 and #5469. I am using a USB 2.0 Microsoft "LifeCam Cinema" camera, but looking at the other tickets, it doesn't appear that the type of camera matters. I am using a Win7 x64 guest but it looks like some of the other tickets are running Linux guests and they're having the same problem. The only common thread I see is that they are all Windows hosts. Again, please look at the forum posts for output from "VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details" as well as several screen shots. https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=40682 VBox.log is attached. Thank you, ColdCold |

| #10776 | obsolete | Alias icon in desktop shortcut | ||
| Description |
I created a shortcut on the Mac desktop to start VM, but I got an icon that is similar to a white sheet of paper with an arrow on the bottom left corner, instead of a blue cube with the arrow (as I got on my Mac in office). The shortcut works, but I'd prefer the blue icon ... Is there a way to change this icon? Thanks Attached: Alias icon.png |
