#4059 fixed Vbox hard freezes my system with VT-x enabled -> update BIOS freddie@witherden.org
Description

When I attempt to enable/use VT-x on a virtual machine my system hard freezes as soon as I attempt to start the VM. My CPU supports VT-x (3.16Ghz 45nm Core 2) and it is enabled in my BIOS.

Log file attached.

#4061 fixed VirusScan Enterprise 8.5+ Services hkim823
Description

When running a x86 Windows XP guest in Leopard (no idea about Tiger), I cannot install McAfee VirusScan Enterprise. From version 8.5 and 8.7 with various patches, the installer freezes when it finishes copying files but trying to start the services needed, it freezes up. The mouse hard locks, nothing can be done in the guest. Powering off the guest and then starting it up again will show that the application is installed, but within a few moments, the guest will full lock up, mouse frozen. I suspect the key is the services that McAfee is trying to start on in Windows and something about VirtualBox locking it up. I've tried it with XP SP2, XP SP3.

#4062 fixed host OS cpu always is above 50% yup
Description

I have linux debian squeeze as host os cpu: amd64 dc mem: 4gb

virtualbox-2.2.2-46594_Debian_lenny from http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian (not virtualbox-ose)

(same problem was with virtualbox-ose from debian repo)

I have installed windows 2003 server as guest os ( ram 512mb, video 8mb, acpi on, vt on, 1 network interface). Is works fine.

host's (linux) cpu load is near 2-3% while guest os idle. If I start few programs ( openoffice, drweb, winrar, etc ...) cpu load of host (linux) jums to ~100% and when programs started it returns to 2-3%

cpu load of guest (windows) also falls to 0-1%

Problem:
there is a program named QIP - alternative icq client (http://download.qip.ru/qip8092.zip)

when I run this (installed) program on guest OS (windows) I get above 50% of cpu load on my host OS (linux) and 0-1% on guest OS (windows), the same thing if I run some more programs (openoffice etc.) but when I close qip, load gets to normal (2-3%) on host OS

maybe this is qip specific but why guest OS does not show great cpu load or maybe this is virtualbox hardware specific

when I start other guest box (winxp) both guests do not get more than 5% of cpu on host OS (linux) when i close that second guest (winxp) cpu load return to above 50% on host OS

same thing happens when qip runs on winxp
