| #17904 | invalid | Error (rc=-5640): More than one thread in process - Windows 10 | ||
| Description |
We have users who use Virtual Box for some VMs and all of the users have the same default software installed (McAfee Endpoint Security) but some users cannt run a VM and get a thread is in use error. Attached are two logs from two machines out of deployment. One has some extra software working but I can't see any obvious issue that causes it to error out on just one machine. Attached are two logs (one working and one not) Thanks in advance |

| #6538 | obsolete | VirtualBox hangs before displaying GUI (USB related) | ||
| Description |
When I start VirtualBox under Windows 7 x64, no GUI is displayed. I first noticed this problem with 3.0.12, which I know was previously working on this machine, and when it stopped working I tried upgrading to 3.1.6. Checking the task manager, when I start VirtualBox, two processes are started VirtualBox.exe and VBoxSVC.exe. VBoxSVC.exe sits taking-up just over 3MB of RAM and taking-up 50% of my CPU (presumably stuck in an infinite loop, and maxing-out one of my two cores). I uninstalled VirtualBox, and reinstalled without any of the additional options, and found that VirtualBox loaded to the GUI screen properly. I uninstalled and reinstalled again several times, checking each component, and found that the problem only arose when the USB component was selected in the installer. When the problem occurs, it never gets to the main GUI window, and so evidently isn't anything to do with a guest OS. AFAIK no VBox.log file is generated. The only VBox.log file on my system was generated last year by VirtualBox 3.0.12, back when it was working, and so doesn't seem relevant. As the program doesn't crash, I don't have a crash report I can add to this, nor am I aware if there are any logs I could provide, but I am fully willing to cooperate if someone can direct me how to provide more useful debugging data. |
