| Description |
Hi guys, I have already followed the Wiki to CoreDump and send data so this here is just for public info: [siv@backmaster rpms]$ VBoxManage startvm XP1 --type=headless Waiting for the VM to power on... VM has been successfully started. ## RDP to the port for RDP then I see VBoxHeadless[26418]: segfault at 00002aaabadab750 rip 00002b12398ed04d rsp 000000004177c870 error 4 The Guest is a XP SP3 32 bit with guest additions installed up to the latest version. Interestingly, the issue does not appear at once. I have to logon(press Cntrl+Alt+Del then type user and pass) on the VM to get the actual crash. After the crash the mashine is in the state Failed. siv@backmaster rpms]$ uname -a Linux backmaster.madv.local 2.6.18-194.11.3.el5 #1 SMP Mon Aug 30 16:19:16 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux [root@backmaster ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS release 5.5 (Final) [siv@backmaster rpms]$ cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 16 model : 5 model name : AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 630 Processor stepping : 2 cpu MHz : 800.000 cache size : 512 KB physical id : 0 siblings : 4 core id : 0 cpu cores : 4 apicid : 0 fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 5 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 ht syscall nx mmxext fxsr_opt pdpe1gb rdtscp lm 3dnowext 3dnow constant_tsc nonstop_tsc pni cx16 popcnt lahf_lm cmp_legacy svm extapic cr8_legacy altmovcr8 abm sse4a misalignsse 3dnowprefetch osvw bogomips : 5600.02 TLB size : 1024 4K pages clflush size : 64 cache_alignment : 64 address sizes : 48 bits physical, 48 bits virtual power management: ts ttp tm stc 100mhzsteps hwpstate [8] |

| #199 | fixed | USB on Windows Guest | ||
| Description |
Host OS: Win2k3 Guest OS: Win2k3 I have a USB 2.0 storage device, but only a USB 1.1 port on the host system. The guest systems sees the device in device manager, but I have a yellow exclamation mark by it, and it is not accessible to the guest. |

| #9580 | fixed | 32-bit Windows XP guest hangs on 64-bit guest Ubuntu | ||
| Description |
Windows XP SP2 and SP3 hangs just after installing. It has something to do with services, since disabling most services (by using "safe mode" or disabling them manualy) buys some time, but eventually windows GUI hangs anyway. This is pretty much a show stopper, since you are just forbidden from using any Windows XP on my host (I haven't tried other guest OSes, but I have tried three different Windows XP: SP2, and two SP3) From guest perspective, during this "hanging" you can still press alt+ctr+del to invoke task manager, but you are pretty forbidden from making any disk browsing related activity, like seeing "my cumputer" or just browsing for files in standard file dialog box. Launching explorer hangs on displaying menu start bar. Normally I would assume it is some problem with Windows, but I have spent many days on tracking this problem and it seems clear it is related to VirtualBox: a) I am able to install and run the same Windowses XP on VMWare Workstation on the same host without any problem b) When I install the same windowses on physical partition as host operating system (i.e. without virtualization) I have no problems. c) and when I run those no-virtual Windowses as VirtualBox guests (after changing hal, stopping necessary hardware-related services, and other stuff done by OfflineSysPrep) I experience the same problem. |
