#2228 wontfix VirtualBox TAP driver fails to work when installed Dan
Description

When installing the VirtualBox TAP driver using the VirtualBox Host Interfaces I receive the unsigned driver prompt, which I accept, and then a VirtualBox error box (see first attachment). The new driver is installed but does not function, giving me a bizarre, nonsensical error (see second attachment).

I already have an existing, working TAPv9 driver installed for OpenVPN.

I also have two non-working VMWare Network drivers which have different errors I have not been able to resolve.

This is an upgrade of 2.0.2 over an unrun, fresh install of 2.0.0. I created my first VM and attempted to add a host interface when I got this error.

#2229 fixed Cant allocate the full 3.5GB to a virtual Machine Rachael
Description

I'm runnung an AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition with 8GB of memory. My host OS is kubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) 32-bit with the server kernel so I have access to all 8GB memory. If I set a virtual machine to use 3.5GB of memory as it now allows as its maximum, when I boot into the VM it produces an error saying it is unable to allocate enough memory as the host is running low on resources and it pauses the VM. Doing a quick check using top shows I still have plenty of free memory.

#2230 fixed Feature Request: Virtual USB Hard Disk Support rainbow
Description

Please add support for virtual USB hard disk drive images.

Imagine this. If your guest operating system is Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista and if you have enabled USB support, in the Settings section, there would be a option to either mount a virtual hard disk image and use it as a emulated USB port or use one of the existing physical USB devices and go from there.

This feature would be perfect if you're planning on running multiple guest operating systems and that you want to share some files between one and the other, but don't want to set up a network drive to share folders with or shutdown the guest operating system upon transfering files.

USB virtual hard disk drives would also be used as a backup disk too. :D

You see, QEMU is the only PC emulator to use virtual hard disk drives as a emulated USB device.

For more information about this feature, please see this thread: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?t=9537
