#20985 duplicate Windows Guest Additions cause Linux host to crash techpost
Description

When I install Guest Additions on my clean-build Windows 10 guest, the host crashes when the guest boots (approx. 5s after the windows logon screen appears).

Host OS: Oracle Linux 8.5, kernel: 5.4.17-2136.306.1.3.el8uek.x86_64 Guest OS: Windows 10 Pro 21H2 (19044.1708)

The guest is stable without GA installed and the host also runs a number of Linux guests with GA installed with no issue. Neither the host nor Linux guests have X installed.

I have tried the following config changes for the Windows guest but these do not resolve the problem:

  • Use graphicscontroller VBoxVGA
  • Use graphicscontroller VBoxSVGA
  • Use mouse ps2
  • Use BIOS firmware
  • Disable USB
  • Disable audio
  • Disable hpet
  • Disable vrde

Configuration below, log of post-install boot attached:

#20982 duplicate Cannot compile DKMS modules on Kernel 5.18 MicheleDG
Description

On Linux host with last 5.18 kernel it is impossible to compile dkms modules. Command /sbin/vboxconfig (vboxdrv.sh) gives this error while compiling:

/tmp/vbox.0/linux/VBoxNetFlt-linux.c:2314:23: error: implicit declaration of function ‘netif_rx_ni’; did you mean ‘netif_rx’? [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]

2314 | err = netif_rx_ni(pBuf);

| | netif_rx

Tested on Ubuntu Linux 20.04 with kernel 5.18.1->5.18.3. Works flawless with kernel 5.17.x.

#20981 invalid Unable to locate imported symbol 'SUPR0FpuBegin' for module 'VMMR0.r0' mdh26
Description

Upgraded Virtualbox to 6.1.34-4 and started getting this error:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows 7.

Failed to load R0 module /usr/lib/virtualbox/VMMR0.r0: Unable to locate imported symbol 'SUPR0FpuBegin' for module 'VMMR0.r0' (VERR_SYMBOL_NOT_FOUND).

Failed to load VMMR0.r0 (VERR_SYMBOL_NOT_FOUND). Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) Component: ConsoleWrap Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}

Downgraded to 6.1.34-3 and Virtualbox would run again.

Running:

  • Manjaro Plasma 5.2.4.5
  • Kernel 5.213.19-2-MANJARO
  • X11
