All rights reserved. RAW host disk access VMDK file r:\virtuals\extldata.vmdk created successfully. Bug: The vmdk disk is now registered in the VirtualBox volume manager, but there is a wrong size. The size should be 22 GB, but it's only 1.9 GB in VirtualBox. I can access the disk from a Guest Linux OS. |

| #10522 | duplicate | createrawvmdk with -partitions option still grants full disk access | ||
| Description |
Hi, i have a problem with VBOX v4.1.14r7740 on Windows 7 Enterprise as Host regarding "createrawvmdk" with "-partitions" option because always full disk access with all partitions is granted to the guest system. I use the following command to create a hardisk based on a physical partition: VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename d:\TestVBox\test.vmdk -rawdisk .\PhysicalDrive1 -partitions 2 The second disk in my computer contains 2 partitions and only the second one should be available for VBOX, but i always see both partitions in my XP based guest-system and not only the second one. When you fill fix this problem? Regards Charly |

| #7251 | fixed | createrawvmdk seems broken in 3.2.6 => fixed in SVN | ||
| Description |
Hi all, I'm reporting this because I think this is a bug. At least, I can reproduce it. I'm trying to use a USB Key (physical) as a virtual disk for a VM. For this, I looked at the documentation, and I found something at 9.7.1.1 : VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename /path/to/file.vmdk -rawdisk /dev/sda I apply this to my case, the command runs well. But when I start my VM with this vmdk disk, I got exactly the same error as Beren in this topic : http://forum.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&p=147197 The screenshot is available here : http://www.joelandmeg.com/webpics/win7shot.png I tried to downgrade Vbox to the 3.0.8 version, and everything is working well. That's why I think that the createrawvmdk command is broken in the last version. I'm running MacOs X SL 10.6.4 Cyril |
