#12838 duplicate Add checks for zero-size VirtualBox.xml and VM.vbox -> duplicate of #10851 Socratis
Description

There are several cases where either by accident or by error one of the VirtualBox.xml or VM.vbox becomes corrupted, usually at 0 bytes. Since there is a .xml-prev and a .vbox-prev, should a suggestion to restore the previous versions be added?

  • Check if the file in question size is zero.
  • Check if file-prev exists (and passes some checks?).
  • Inform the user and suggest to restore the previous version.
#14975 fixed OSX guests: Audio output lost from 5.0.10 to 5.0.12 pentagonik Socratis
Description

All of my OSX clients lost their audio output in the upgrade from 5.0.10 to 5.0.12. That includes, 10.5, .6, .7, .8, .9, .10 and .11 clients, which means everything under the radar.

Log comparison reveals nothing suspicious, except some log entries at the very, very end (after the "End of statistics"). I've included them just for kicks. They're from a 10.8 client, but they're all pretty much the same.

Comparison of the "system_profiler" output reveals nothing. Honestly. They're identical. I've not included them, it doesn't make sense.

Source code comparison between 5.0.10 and .12 reveals some pretty big changes in the Audio part of the tree (/src/VBox/Devices/Audio).

#15610 fixed Host cursor visible in guest, produces double cursors -> fixed in 5.1.30 Socratis
Description

Since 5.1b1 there are some guests (I believe the ones that do not have GAs installed/active) where the host cursor is visible when the mouse is in the guest (normal, windowed mode). What you can notice is that there are 2 cursors which move "in parallel". Symptoms:

  • On OSX <= 10.9, the two cursors overlap when the mouse is in the middle of the guest's screen. The further away you move from the center, the guest cursor moves faster compared to the host cursor by a factor of 1.2. End result: two completely separate cursors.
  • If you move the mouse fast enough you can see the guest's mouse trying to "catch up". Sort of like the mouse trails effect in some OSes. This mainly happens with Windows in safe mode, OSX > 10.9, Android, Linux guests.
  • Cursor within a cursor when a magnification factor is used in the guest.

There has been a discussion about this in https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=78510. If there is a need to re-attach the pictures locally to the bug report, please say so.

Host: MacBookPro 17", early 2011. OSX 10.9.5.
