#10142 obsolete Internet key don't work IoNonSbalgioMai
Description

Sorry for my bad English, I'm Italian.

I've tried to use an internet key by ZTE in a virtual machine (guest Ubuntu 10.04 32 bit) created by VirtualBox 4.1.8 (with extension pack) but it doesn't work.

This internet key work correctly in the host system (Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit) but when I connect it to the virtual machine it don't connect and disappear from host. When that happens my external hard disk disappear from host also. To re-establish the function of the devices in the host I must restart the computer.

The virtual machine have only standard options. There aren't filter for USB, and 2.0 options only are activated. I've tried with filter also but nothing.

#10144 obsolete windows guest additions broken in 4.1.8 matteo sisti sette
Description

I've upgraded to 4.1.8 (ubuntu 11.10 host, windows 7 guest) from 4.0.12

I have tried to install guest additions on the guest. I checked "Direct 3D support". I got a dialog informing me that support for some feature (Windows Aero or something like that) is experimental, and asking whether I wanted to "install basic 3d support instead" I chose No (I want the experimental full-featured support).

Then I got more or less the following error message (I have to write it by memory): "A corrupt version of Direct 3D has been detected. Installation cannot continue and will be aborted"

Indeed, the installation wizard then hanged forever and never even finished aborting.

So I cannot install the latest guest additions.

Btw, I seem to remember that formerly, in order to install direct 3D support you had to restart windows in safe mode, but you got a warning telling you the steps to follow when trying to intall the guest additions in normal mode, and I haven't seen such a thing now.

#10145 obsolete USB attached media player does not work since version 4.1.0 starfry
Description

Originally raised as forum post: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=47104&p=213141#p213141

I am experiencing problems with USB on the 4.1.x version stream. I have tried the latest version 4.1.8 and version 4.1.0. Both exhibit the problem. Version 4.0.14 does not exhibit the problem.

The problem is as follows. Everything appears to work but when I try to transfer a file to my Creative Zen USB connected AV device I get errors. I have been using its "organiser" app for some time to load videos on to it and it's always worked fine but it does not work if I run VirtualBox 4.1.x.

The device is detected and connected ok. The problem occurs when I attempt to write a file to it.

If I use a version later than 4.1.x ( specifically I have tried 4.1.0, 4.1.6 and 4.1.8 ) the app reports errors claiming that the video file is not of the correct format.

If I downgrade to VirtualBox 4.0.x it works fine (specifically I have tried 4.0.8 and 4.0.14): same host, same guest image, same video file, same USB connection.

Host is Arch Linux and it is up to date. I am using the official Oracle package not the one in the Arch Linux package repository.

Host uname -a:

Linux hydrogen 3.1.8-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Jan 7 08:59:43 CET 2012 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Guest is Windows 7.

Log attached as requested.

If I can help by providing more information please let me know how.

Thanks.
