| #18172 | invalid | CentOS7 with Guest Additions won't increase resolution and the desktop panels keep freezing -> please use forums | ||
| Description |
I updated several packages today using the Application Installer, and since the restart, my CentOS7 guest won't fill my whole VirtualBox window (resolution stuck at 1024x768 while it's normally 1920x1070) and the desktop panels have started freezing. |

| #13332 | obsolete | CentOS7/Oracle7 Guest Crash after installing Guest Additions all kernel Versions | ||
| Description |
Host: Window 7 SP1 Ultimate/Windows Defender I have looked for similar issues, however as far as I can tell this is a new issue or a variant of those currently being fixed. I am evaluating RHEL7 Clones as a potential replacement for Windows on my home computer, in particular to determine the optimum combination of packages and hardware configuration. Installation of both Oracle Linux 7 and CentOS 7 as Guests is successful and without issue. Guest appears to boot and run fine including after applying outstanding Linux Patches (including upgrade of kernel). Installation of 4.3.14 Guest Additions runs without incident against any of the available kernels. Guest Additions appears to function okay prior to reboot. Following reboot, using appropriate kernel option at boot time, Instance boots to Login Screen, and with a few seconds or a minute or two, following user login, Entire VM ceases to function, Windows displays the following message "The instruction at 0x8003ee1f referenced memory at 0x000001b8. The memory could not be written" It is possible to reboot using a different version of kernel and use the VM without obvious issues. I am not a Programmer or a Windows/Linux expert, so I really have not got a clue on what steps to take to identify and resolve this issue. It does not appear to be exactly the same as most issues with 4.3.14 relating to Hardening and Firewall Conflicts, as from what I can tell most of these issues prevent a VM from being started - I don't appear to have this issue. I appreciate the prevalent advise for those experiencing issues is to downgrade to 4.3.12, however I am unable to deal with Linux issues installing 4.3.12 Guest Additions. I also appreciate that RHEL7 and clones including 3.08 and 3.10 versions of kernel are relatively new and as such have not necessarily been extensively tested and Virtualbox has not necessarily been tweaked to support these OS safely, however my impression as a novice is that this is an issue with Guest Additions first and Foremost. I will in the short term remove Guest Additions if that is possible or link it against an older version of kernel so that I can continue to use the VM's on the latest kernel, without Guest Additions Loaded but this is far from ideal! I would appreciate any guidance that can be given to help me identify the cause and the most expedient resolution of this issue. |

| #96 | wontfix | Centos 4.4 guest makes host CPU goes 100 even the guest is idle | ||
| Description |
Running a Centos 4.4 guest under VirtualBox 1.3.6 makes the host CPU goes 100% even after boot. I also have Windows XP and Ubuntu 7.04 guests and they both worked well with host CPU dropping just after the boot. When running Centos 4.4 guests, "top" on host shows 100% busy and "top" on guest shows 99% idle. My host is a Ubuntu 6.10, default Ubuntu kernel, and it has a dual-core CPU. I already tried other Centos kernels, disable ACPI, and reinstalling Guest Addictions but with the same results. The last test was install the Fedora3 kernel (2.6.9-1.667) that is only a bit older but at least install without dependency problems and IT DID GREAT! Host and Guest CPU were minimal after boot just like the other OS's I tested. So it look like a Centos kernel specific problem when running under VirtualBox.
The kernels I tested:
