| #5286 | fixed | Cannot start VM after Windows Update | ||
| Description |
While my virtual machine was running, Windows Update upgraded the driver for my ethernet interface. I then suspended the VM and shut the machine down. Now that I have booted back up, I am unable to start the VM, and because the VM is suspended, I am unable to access its settings! My only option is to throw away my work by discarding! Failed to start the virtual machine wintermute. VM cannot start because the host interface 'Realtek RTL8186C(P)/8111(P) Family PCI-E GBE NIC' does not exist. Details Result Code: VBOX_E_HOST_ERROR (0x80BB0008) Component: Console Interface: IConsole {0a51994b-cbc6-4686-94eb-d4e4023280e2} |

| #10965 | fixed | Cannot start VM in Mac OS X 10.8.2 => Fixed in SVN | ||
| Description |
I have already upgraded to Vbox 4.2 and it was working fine. I then upgraded to OS X 10.8.2 today, and when booting any VM, I get the following error: VT-x is being used by another hypervisor. (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE). VirtualBox can't operate in VMX root mode. Please close all other virtualization programs. (VERR_VMX_IN_VMX_ROOT_MODE). Apparently this was an issue already present in the 10.8.2 beta, but it was not fixed on Apple's side. |

| #12426 | fixed | Cannot start VM with more than 5 network adapters of type Am79C973 => Fixed in SVN | ||
| Description |
On Windows7-64 and Ubuntu-64, upgrading from VirtualBox 4.2.18 to 4.3.4 caused a virtual machine to produce an error message at boot: "failed to open a session for the virtual machine <name>. Failed to allocate 524288 bytes of memory for the PCNet device (VERR_PGM_TOO_MANY_MMIO2_RANGES)" Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: Console Interface: IConsole {8ab7c520-2442-4b66-8d74-4ff1e195d2b6} The problem is related to having more than 5 (6,7 or 8) network interfaces enabled and is only observed when creating a virtual machine with the "Linux other" 32-bit template. The "Linux other (64-bit)" has no issues. The difference in config files is PEA, LongMode and IOAPIC enabled in 64 vs 32 bit and the default network adapter type. (32bit: Am79C973 and 64bit: 82540EM. Setting adapter type to 82540EM after using the 32-bit template fixes the problem.
