#2288 fixed vboxadd-timesync makes Etch/64 guests Xorg crash Stéphane Charette
Description

After installing the Guest Additions in Debian Etch 64-bit, I find that X continuously restarts every few seconds. The problem is exasperated by typing on the keyboard into a guest window (like bash, or into gedit).

The workaround I've discovered is to disabled timesync. Once the VirtualBox timesync is disabled, X no longer restarts. For example, if I run this, X wont restart anymore:

/etc/init.d/vboxadd-timesync stop

If at any point in time I run "/etc/init.d/vboxadd-timesync start", then X immediately starts crashing again.

I've run into this exact problem with 2 different computers running Ubuntu 8.04-64bit and Debian Etch 64-bit as host. I've confirmed the "workaround" works the same in both situations.

#2306 fixed where mouse is drawn on guest does not match mouse coordinates -> fixed in SVN Stéphane Charette
Description

I've observed this on Debian Etch 64-bit guest running on Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit host; VirtualBox 2.0.2.

With *some* guest screen resolutions (not all) the mouse seems to be drawn in the wrong location. Near the top of the screen, the mouse is OK. But as the mouse progresses through the Y axis towards the bottom of the screen, an offset appears between the drawn mouse and where X think the mouse is located. Near the bottom of the screen, I've seen a difference of maybe 100 pixels between the drawn mouse and where X thinks the mouse is located.

This is very obvious when dragging a window towards the bottom of the screen, or trying to click on a button located near the bottom of the screen. End result is you must click anywhere between 50 to 100 pixels "higher" than where you actually want to click.

Example resolution (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) where this problem does not happen: 1280x1024

Example resolutions where this problem occurs: 1400x940, 1152x864, 1200x950

Workaround: if I disable mouse integration then the mouse works fine.

#2528 fixed running ddd/gdb halts my Debian Etch 64-bit guest Stéphane Charette
Description

Host: Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit Guest: Debian Etch 64-bit VB: 2.0.4 64-bit Guest additions installed EXCEPT for vboxadd-timesync which is disabled due to ticket #2288. Mouse integration turned off due to ticket #2306.

I have a C++ application I want to debug. I start "ddd path/app" and as soon as I click on "run" my Debian Etch 64-bit guest comes to a halt. I'm presented with the following text:

"A critical error has occurred while running the virtual machine and the machine execution has been stopped. For help, please see the Community section...etc... Press OK if you want to power off the machine or press Ignore if you want to leave it as is for debugging. ...etc..."

I'll attach the files VBox.log and VBox.png.
