#11233 obsolete the vboxdrv service is not started stephane de Labrusse
Description

I found that the binaries installed virtualbox from oracle repositories causing malfunction on my debian wheezy.

Every time I run virtualbox, the prompt asked them to return this command although the DKMS package is installed

"/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup"

we can see that the service vboxdrv is not started at boot the machine because there is no runlevel assigned to this service.

I have to manually assign it level with the startup command

"update-rc.d vboxdrv defaults"

I can reproduce this bug on two debian wheezy when I want to use the packages virtualbox 4.1 and 4.2

here are the error messages that I get when I want to start virtualbox

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine ...

"The virtual machine '..' has terminated unexpectedly falling on startup with exit code 1."

and also that the

"Kernel driver not installed (rc = -1908)

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is not loaded or there Either is a permission problem with / dev / vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing

'/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'

as root. If it is available in your distribution, you install the DKMS package shoulds first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel and recompiled exchange the vboxdrv kernel module if Necessary. "

#1116 fixed VERR_REM_TOO_MANY_TRAPS when virtual machine is left running over the weekend Stéphane Charette
Description

This is the 3rd weekend in a row where I come in on Monday morning and find my linux development environment running in a virtualbox has crashed. I no longer have the machine with the first 2 logs (hard drive was formatted last week). But the crash over this weekend is on a brand new virtualbox, on a newly-installed Dell system purchased last week. I do have the logs for this recent crash and will attach to this ticket.

The log file contains:

4832:40:32.572 VERR_REM_TOO_MANY_TRAPS -> uTrap=e error=2 next_eip=ffffe400 eip=ffffe400 cr2=00000042

Guru Meditation -2304 (VERR_REM_TOO_MANY_TRAPS)

New host environment is: Ubuntu 7.10 64-bit running on a Dell Intel quad-core with 4 gb of ram. Guest environment is: Ubuntu 7.10 32-bit running in a 1gb ram virtualbox

I have only one VB guest environment defined.

I'm using VirtualBox 1.5.4 r27034 linux.amd64 (Dec 29 2007 08:56:18) downloaded from the VB web site.

#1706 fixed Cannot use host window scrollbars Stéphane Charette
Description

VirtualBox v1.6.2. Host is Ubuntu 8.04-64bit. Guest is Fedora Core 9, newly-installed.

When FC9 first comes up as the guest during the installation process, the default desktop (1600x1200) is larger than my host resolution of 1680x1050, so scrollbars are shown in the VirtualBox window. But the scrollbars are not working, preventing me from seeing the bottom of the windows.

Unfortunately, at the bottom of the window (which cannot be accessed) is the "Next", "Previous", and "Finish" pushbuttons necessary to complete the installation of FC9.

Would be nice if the content of the guest could be automatically scaled down so the entire window is visible, or if the scrollbars worked correctly.
