#9645 obsolete "Failed to attach the USB device Hauppauge Device" message when attaching USB-Live2 Analog Video Digitizer lapbzh
Description

I have used Virtualbox on Natty AMD64 as host and Windows XP SP3 as guest. All USB flash drives, mouse, keyboard succcesfully connects from host to guest via Virtualbox. But when I connect my USB-Live2 Analog Video Digitizer device I see the error message:

Failed to attach the USB device Hauppauge Device [4001] to the virtual machine Windows XP Pro SP3.

Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_READ_ERROR).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb}

I started virtualbox via normal user in vboxusers group. I tried to create filters for this device, but it isn't helps.

How can I fix the issue ?

Thanks for your help.

Regards Laurent

#9650 obsolete VBoxManage guestcontrol hangs on execute Branan
Description

Example session:

VBoxManage --nologo guestcontrol 'Uru Build Server' execute --image 'C:\windows\notepad.exe' \
--username buildbot --password password --wait-stdout --verbose
Waiting for guest to start process ...
Process 'C:\windows\notepad.exe' (PID: 2104) started
Waiting for process to exit ...
^C^C^C

Once I close notepad (or the process terminates on its own), VBoxManage does not end, instead it just hangs at "Waiting for process to exit ...". SIGINT has no effect on VBoxManage at this point.

If I kill the VBoxManage process and try to run a new instance of it, it will hang at "Waiting for guest to start process ..." (as if some sort of lock was never released by the killed process?). No process is ever launched in the VM. As far as I can tell, this can't be fixed without restarting the VM.

The VM is pretty lightweight - currently the only program installed is Visual Studio.

#9652 obsolete 2D acceleration: video overlay size doesn't change automatically Donuts
Description

Hi,

Host: VirtualBox 4.0.12 on Xubuntu 9.10 x86, Nvidia driver 260.19.29.

I'm using DScaler (http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/) in a Windows XP SP3 guest. DScaler can use video capture devices to show video in a window on the Windows desktop. It can apply various image-processing methods before displaying.

DScaler uses the overlay feature, so I enabled the VirtualBox 2D acceleration feature. I mostly works correctly, however there is one minor problem.

When the overlay size is changed, the displayed video does not get resized as it should, until I move the DScaler window. As soon as I do that the video shows in the correct size.

To see the problem, run DScaler and start displaying video. Change the deinterlacing method (Deinterlace menu) between e.g. Simple Weave and Old Game. The Old Game deinterlacer uses a half-height overlay (which should occupy the same space on-screen). When you switch to the Old Game deinterlacer, the displayed video is squashed into the upper half of the window, with the previous video content remaining in the bottom half. If you move the DScaler window, this problem corrects itself and the video is stretched to fill the whole window.

Running DScaler natively in Windows (Vista) this problem does not occur.
