#7712 worksforme framebuffer color error ganquan
Description

HOST OS: win xp

GUEST OS:Debian testing

I write a program which has two threads. Thread A writes data to /dev/fb0, to paint the whole screen as red{255, 0, 0}, green{0, 255, 0}, blue{0, 0, 255}, white{255, 255, 255}, gray{110, 110, 110} every 1 second. After A paints screen complete, Thread B read from /dev/fb0 and save the whole screen data and use libgd to save the screenshot as a jpeg image every 1 second. The two threads work synchronized well. Howerver,Thread A paints the screen well, all color is correct, Thread B gets some colors error. blue becomes black, white becomes yellow, gray becomes dark yellow. Red and green is correctly.

I recompile my program and run it on VMware workstation(HOST OS winxp and GUEST OS debian testing, everything is same as Virtulbox's HOST OS and GUEST OS), both thread A and thread B work correctly. No color error.

p.s. I set the GUEST OS "vga = 0x0318" at the end of line which locate kernel image. So /dev/fb0 should be 1024x768 24bits color mode.

Description

I tested as guest, Kubuntu+KDE, KDE4Daily+KDE, openSUSE+kde.

  1. start guest, wait for KDE, maximize host window
  2. shutdown guest
  3. start guest again
  4. wait for kde
  5. notice the host window is maximized but the guest screen is somewhat smaller

Now,

  1. resize down host window a bit, just a bit, so it will be smaller than maximized
  2. shutdown guest
  3. start guest again
  4. wait for kde
  5. host window is restored correctly, guest screen also
