#16373 obsolete Cannot boot linux guest on windows host using EFI and NVME wharvey
Description

VirtualBox version 5.1.12e112440 Host OS Windows 10 Pro Guest OS Ubuntu 16.10

Using EFI option and NVME as the controller option, the system installed and booted without any issues.

After shutting down the system and attempting to reboot the following error message appears: Boot Failed. EFI DVD/CDROM Boot Failed. EFI Misc Device .

Then after about a minute it drops to the EFI shell.

After some research, I found this: In the EFI shell: cd FS0: edit startup.nsh, add the following 2 lines FS0: \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi Ctrl S Enter Enter to save file, Ctrl q to quit

Then i set the boot order sudo efibootmgr -o 3,1 (boot to shell then device 1)

Now after the minute timeout, it drops to the shell and boots Ubuntu.

How can we make it boot normally?

#2749 invalid Cannot boot vdi moved from LINUX to WINDOWS - A disk read error occurred Peter Feser
Description

I moved a VDI from Linux (OpenSuse 11.0) to Windows (Vista) (=copied from Linux FS to USB NTFS Disk). When i try to boot the VDI on Windows Virtualbox (Linux and Windows Version of VBox is 2.0.6) i receive the following error at startup:

A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.

When i add this VDI as 2nd Disk to a working XP VBox and Doubleclick on the Disk in the Windows File Manager, File Manager wants to format the Drive.

#14520 fixed Cannot build VirtualBox.chm => Fixed in SVN mYse|f
Description

According to this past forum topic, it should be possible to build VirtualBox.chm from OSE sources provided that VBOX_WITH_DOCS_CHM is set to "1", and VBOX_PATH_HTML_HELP_WORKSHOP targets the folder holding the hhc.exe binary (installed through Wine). However, when I try to do so, the compilation fails with the following error message:

kmk: *** No rule to make target `/media/trisquel/NewVirtualDisk1/VirtualBox-5.0.2/doc/manual/common-html-formatcfg.xsl', needed by `/media/trisquel/NewVirtualDisk1/VirtualBox-5.0.2/out/debian/builddir/obj/manual/en_US/docbook-htmlhelp-formatcfg.xsl'. Stop.
