#6987 fixed Cannot attach raw disk to SATA controller => fixed in SVN Arief Wibowo
Description

Tried to attach a raw host hard disk (as found in help file section 9.7.1.1.) to SATA controller, and the guest machine failed to start.

I have also tried to recreate the guest machine and the disk, to no avail.

Using normal virtual disk images are fine.

And final note, this happens to me in two different host machine, both are running Windows XP, and only after upgrading to 3.2.4. I didnt try 3.2.0, upgraded directly from 3.1.8.

Thanks!

#2780 fixed Cannot attach to Linux hostifs without IP => Fixed in SVN Technologov
Description

The new networking stack of VirtualBox 2.1.0 does not detect NICs on the Linux host unless that NIC has IP address specified.

However in some cases I would not want my host NIC to have any IP at all.

For example my server has 2 NICs: 1 NIC should have IP to access the server, and second NIC is dedicated for VM networking, so it may not have an IP address at all - for security reasons.

For purposes of VBox I want my VMs to be connected to the second NIC, however it is not possible now with VBox 2.1.0, as the second NIC is not shown on the list of available host connections.

Instead I recommend list the NIcs to guest OS on a different criteria: namely whenever the interface is "UP"

This is partial output of "ifconfig" - you can see that the interface is "up" on 4th line.

#1931 obsolete Cannot boot Coherent from bootable floppy image Andrzej Popielewicz
Description

I am using Solaris 10 x86, (uname -a -> SunOS unknown 5.10 Generic_Patch_118844-30 i86pc i386 i86pc) and using latest VirtualBox 1.6.2. I am trying to boot Coherent 4.2.10 from bootable floppy image. Kernel is loaded but crashes due to error in mounting/opening root filesystem(floppy). The identical message was produced in qemu previous to 1.6.1. Since qemu 1.6.1 Coherent bootable floppy boots OK and one can install Coherent to hard disk image.I suspect that some io addresses are not mapped correctly by VirtualBox.The error message is produced by Coherent kernel executing inb/outb instructions. It means comparison what was made in qemu 1.6.1 could be useful. The bootable floppy image for Coherent can be created from 4 installer files in TUHS archive. This bug report was suugested by Sun employee in the OpenSolaris forum.
