| #11513 | obsolete | Cannot attach medium error - VboxSVC and Virtualbox eat 100% CPU | ||
| Description |
Hi, when opening the VirtualBox GUI it just hangs and consumes 100% CPU time. Looking at the logfile *~/Library/VirtualBox/VBoxSVC.log* I can observe the following (repeating) 00:00:18.594131 nspr-3 Loading settings file "/Users/ruben/VirtualBox VMs/sgg/sgg.vbox" with version "1.12-macosx"
00:00:18.594762 nspr-3 ERROR [COM]: aRC=VBOX_E_OBJECT_IN_USE (0x80bb000c) aIID={29989373-b111-4654-8493-2e1176cba890} aComponent={Medium} aText={Cannot attach medium '/Users/ruben/Images/sgg-binary-squeeze-test-64bit-2013-02-11-exim-rbl-routing.iso' {e03a7a7c-c712-4691-a6f5-dd9eb05a48ab}: medium is already associated with the current state of machine uuid {2e65ff14-9e24-48e0-8d2c-b59c04a5939f}!}, preserve=false
I removed the affected machine and the GUI works again. If a medium cannot be attached this should result in an error for the affected machine but not hang the whole GUI which results in a denial of service. Fixing this behaviour will definitely improve the user experience. Cheers, Ruben |
