#14475 fixed guest hangs with host i/o cache disabled => fixed in SVN/5.0.x Christian Hesse
Description

I have a guest (Window 7) that hangs if host I/O cache is disabled. I have to hard kill virtualbox in this situation. Log is attached.

Everything works as expected if I enable host I/O cache for the guest.

Looks like this is about the same defect:

#4340 fixed guest hangs on boot with virtualbox 3.0.0 Fabio
Description

Dear All,

today I updated to the new release of Virtualbox and the the vdi I used till yesterday is not working anymore (system hangs, no crash, as involved in an infinite loop. No interaction with the guest). According to me is a problem related to the SATA controller since I use a disk attached to the IDE controller everything is working fine.

To have the same vdi disk working I had to reinstall vbox-2.2.4

Please find attached the log.

Thanks. Fabio

#3731 fixed guest hangs on application wolcano
Description

Hello,

since I switched from OSE 1.6 to OSE 2.2.0 (2.1.2 and 2.1.4 had similar problem) I am having problem with one application: PlSql Developer (http://allroundautomations.swmirror.com/plsqldev715.exe). All is OK with this application, until I request to create a Explain Plan Window (menu File -> New -> Explain Plan Window). This hangs the inner part of the guest (the guest window itself is responding - I can issue pause/resume/reset/save/restore, none of them made the inner part of the guest respond (I get the unhang occasionally after several save/restore). I used GuestAdditions but after uninstalling, the problem is still present.

I had similar (or the same?) problem on 1.6, but it usually recovered from the hang in cca 1 minute to normal functionality (or after save/restore).

I am running VBox Host: Debian - 2.6.24-1-686, Guest: WinXP-SP2

Provided VBox.log is from a save;restore;close of a hanged VM.
