#1645 obsolete libnotify notifications do not show up when VirtualBox is running fullscreen James
Description

I have an Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) host system. I like to have a Windows VM running full-screen on a second desktop. When I do this, the standard notifications that appear next to system tray icons (created by libnotify) do not appear. If the VM is not in full screen, then the notifications appear as expected.

A command that can be run to test this behavior (requires the libnotify-bin package to be installed) is:

notify-send -t 2000 test testing
#1646 fixed Shared folder refresh crashes VirtualBox (Solaris host) => Fixed in 1.6.4 stefano lusardi
Description

I just installed VB 1.6.2 on my laptop with Solaris 10 U4. I was happy and everything was ok. I wanted to test shared folder in a Win XP guest. I was able to define it, to create as network disk, to see the files, to open pdf files and to print them. This was yesterday. This morning I started my pc, started the vb with XP and I printed some files in the shared folder. Then, from Solaris I copied a file in the shared directory, I typed F5 in the shared folder in XP guest and... crash!!! I rebooted the guest, I connected the shared dir again and ...crash again. I tested some times the situation, with empty or full directories to share, but VB crashed and I always have a core. If I did not see the shared folder running, I could think it was not a supported function, but it worked...

#1647 obsolete Cannot get USB support to work in OpenSolaris guest Gregg Sporar
Description

VirtualBox 1.6.0 on Windows Vista - using an OpenSolaris 2008.05 guest.

I have been unable to get USB support to work. I plugged in a USB flash drive, started VirtualBox and then created a filter for the flash drive.

I then started the OpenSolaris virtual machine. It sort of looks like VirtualBox sees the USB flash drive, because if I select Devices > USB Devices from the menu of the virtual machine's window, I get a list of four entries:

 Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse
 Unknown device 05CA:183A [0100]
 Generic Flash Disk [0100]
 TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor [0001]

The third entry, "Generic Flash Disk [0100]" is the only entry that has a check-mark, which I think is what it should have. Further, at this point Windows Vista no longer sees the USB drive, which if I understand the documentation is the correct behavior. In other words, VirtualBox "takes over" the USB device and the host operating system no longer sees it.

Unfortunately, from inside the virtual machine, OpenSolaris does not seem to see the device. It does not get auto-mounted. At a command line in OpenSolaris I typed in:

rmformat -l

and the USB flash drive is not listed (ref: http://mx.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=59178). The only thing listed by rmformat is the "VBOX CD-ROM" drive.
