| #278 | fixed | VirtualBox is rather slow if other programms do computations | ||
| Description |
Hi, VirtualBox can run guest systems very fast if it has the CPU of the host system for itself. But if other programms that consume much CPU cyles (like mencoder) it breaks down. E.g. booting of Debian in VirtualBox that takes normally 30 seconds lasts approx. 45 minutes. It doesn't help even if I give the processes of the CPU cycles consuming programms a priority of 19 (with renice) and VirtualBox a priority of -19. My configuration: VirtualBox 1.3.8 OSE and 1.3.99 from SVN. The same result with both versions. Kernel: Linux 2.6.20.3 Host OS: Debian Etch Guest OS: Debian Sarge CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.50GHz Ram: 1,25 Gb Would be nice if you could fix it or give me a hint what I made wrong. |
