#9180 obsolete Locked VM state after disk full message Konstantin Vlasov
Description

Consider the situation when there is low disk space on the partition with virtual machines.

  1. Start a VM with dynamic hard disk and make it use the unused space so that the disk image grew in size (e.g. create a new VM and start installing an OS into it).
  2. When host partition is filled, VB shows a warning about full disk and pauses the mavhine.
  3. Close the VM window; when asked about action, select "Save state".
  4. VB shows a message that saving state operation failed because of insufficient disk space.

Now VM session is permanently locked in "saving" state and can be neither powered off, nor saved, nor unpaused. It can only be killed from a task manager.

#9183 obsolete Guest starts and freeze the VM and host systems Russ Fineman
Description
  • Host: openSUSE 2.6.37.6-0.5-desktop
  • Guest: WIN XP SP2 (May be SP3)
  • VirtualBox-4.0-4.0.10_72479_openSUSE114-1.x86_64 (from VirtualBox web site)
  • VirtualBox Guest Additions Installed
  • Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.0.10-72436.vbox-extpack
  • KDE 4.6.5 (4.6.5) "release 8" (Platform Version)

Problem:

Virtual Manager shows four usb devices active:

  • XEROX Phaser 6120 [0100]
  • Cypress Semiconductor AT2+ Fast Bits [0001]
  • Western Digital My Book [0165]
  • CHESEN PS2 to USB Converter [0010]

If I have CHESEN device enable (Device sharing of Mouse, Monitor and keyboard between two system), XP Guest starts, hangs both Guest and Host on the VM desktop screen.
Must power off or reset system to restart and free up. This occured on 0.8 also, just left it disabled in Virtual Manager.

If it is disabled, the XP works but all usb devices come up disabled and require usb cables to be unplugged and replugged in to enable devices. Then all works fine until next start of VirtualBox.
This was not necessary of version 0.8.
CHESEN works fine switching between two Linux hosts on separate system.

#9186 obsolete Virtual machine will not start when connected to vde switch Andrei
Description

Host systems: Ubuntu 10.10 the Maverick Meerkat, debian 6 squeeze. VDE version: vde2 2.2.3

VDE switch is created with the following commands

root@fc7~# vde_switch --daemon --sock /var/run/vde2/switch01.ctl --mgmt /var/run/vde2/switch01.mgmt

A virtual machine is being connected to the switch with the following:

root@fc7~# VBoxManage modifyvm vm4 --nic1 vde --nictype1 Am79C973 --vdenet1 /var/run/vde2/switch01.ctl

When starting VM I see this error:

VBoxManage: error: No error info VBoxManage: error: Details: code NS_ERROR_CALL_FAILED (0x800706be), component ProgressProxy, interface IProgress, callee

I also tried this command:

root@fc7~# VBoxManage modifyvm vm4 --nic1 vde --nictype1 Am79C973 --vdenet1 /var/run/vde2/switch01.ctl/ctl

with the same result

I remember that it definitely worked fine with previous version of Virtualbox (3.2.* or something).

Has anyone come across this?
