| #10089 | obsolete | PAE always exposed to VM regardless of checkbox state | ||
| Description |
On a Mac OS X host, using VirtualBox 4.1.8, PAE appears to always be available to the VM, even if the checkbox in Settings->System->Processor is unchecked. By contrast, on a Windows host using VirtualBox 4.1.8, PAE is not available to the VM if the checkbox is unchecked.
One way to reproduce: Expected behavior would be no output other than another prompt. (This is how the Windows version behaves.) Actual behavior is that a line of CPU attributes is presented with pae among them, same as if the checkbox were checked. Also, on a Mac OS X host with the checkbox unchecked, the pae version of the Linux kernel will still be installed, whereas that's not true on a Windows host. |

| #12913 | obsolete | Can not install VirtualBox on Windows 8 (installer freezes) | ||
| Description |
Environment: Version of VirtualBox: 4.3.10, 4.2.x, 4.3.x Host Operating System: Windows 8 (64bit) Intel Core i7 3630QM CPU 2.4GHz Problem: I can not install any version of Virtual Box on my Windows 8 machine (tried latest version 4.3.10, also tried some 4.3.x versions, also some 4.2.x versions). Installer freezes Windows during the install, and I have to reboot my computer to do anything. Attempted Resolutions: Tried to install VirtualBox 4.3.10 on my old computer with windows 7: everything went OK! Several times waited for about 10 minutes for computer to unfreeze, but it didn't. Tied cleaning up registry with cccleaner. Did not help. Tried googling the problem, but could not find and solutions. Tried Microsoft Installer CleanUp Utility, did not help. Log files: Searched the C drive for the log file VBox.log, could not find any. Created a log file according to https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/MSI_Logging (C:\Users\ivan\Desktop\VirtualBox-4.3.10-93012-Win.exe -l) |

| #61 | worksforme | SUSE 10.1 and 10.2 installation doesn't find DVD-ROM | ||
| Description |
I tried to install SUSE in the VirtualBox but my SUSE 10.1 and 10.2 installation doesn't find the DVD-ROM for Package installation, the DVD is mounted as iso file. It boots, i choose install and during the first steps of installation SUSE looks for packages to install from the DVD and I get following errormessage: cd:///?devices=/dev/hdc Unknown Error: Unable to copy media directory to /var/tmp/TmpDir.Iwqyc7/MEDIA I found the same errormessage in a Forum from someone having the same problem with his Real DVD-Drive, luckily he had 2 of them, changed the bootorder and it worked with the other one. Maybe this information helps finding the Bug. |
