#4702 invalid Can't run 64bits guest on Windows XP 32 bits Ciro Iriarte
Description

I have an Optiplex 755 with latest BIOS running Windows XP SP2. The virtualization support in BIOS is enabled and a utility from Intel says my processor supports Virtualization.

When I start a 64bits guest VBox inmediatly states that the hardware virtualization function is not functional and asks me to check de BIOS.

I'm trying to install OpenSUSE 11.2@x86_64 (in development) but also tried with Windows 7 64bits.

#8994 invalid Can't run existing VM on new Sandy Bridge computer. Scott Budge
Description

I just upgraded my computer to a i5-2500k (Sandy Bridge) processor in an MSI P67A-G45 motherboard. I experienced two different problems. First, the 32-bit WinXP VM I was running previously without problems will hang after it boots when it reaches the login screen. Second, when I tried to install a Windows 7 VM (64-bit) I get a message that "VT-x/AMD-V hardware has been enabled, but is not operational." The 64-bit Windows 7 will not install, even though VT-x is set in the BIOS on the motherboard.
