| #9017 | obsolete | VirtualBox gives critical error and will not run | ||
| Description |
I have VirtualBox 4.0.8 installed on a Windows 2008 R2 server. HP DL180 G6 hardware. This is a basic install with no other services installed. I downloaded and ran the virtualbox install. I encountered no errors and the install ran through clean. When the install finishes I attempt to run VirtualBox and I receive a Critical Error and the program never runs. The error box says: VirtualBox - Critical Error Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object. The application will now terminate. Details: Callee RC: CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE (0x80080005) Originally this server also had HyperV installed and all the latest drivers. When this didn't solve the problem I removed the HyperV role but that still did not solve the problem. In hopes of finally resolving this I completely reloaded the server and did not install any additional roles, etc. I upgraded the bios to the latest version. The VT -d is enabled in the bios but I have tried it disabled as well. I happened to have another server available but it is the same HP model and I get the same VirtualBox errors. I'm hoping that someone has run across this before and might be able to shed some light or give me some direction... I really don't know what else to check. |
