| #6335 | fixed | (again) issues with Japanese keyboards (jp106) | ||
| Description |
Recently I started seeing issues (again) with Japanese keyboard support in some guest under all Gentoo hosts. The hosts have similar configuration. I have hit this before and I am almost sure I have commented and/or submitted it here, but I cannot find it :-( Tickets #6046 and #5543 seem related. jp106 layout can be seen here: http://www.vultaire.net/software/dvorak_jp106/dv106jp_white.png I'll try to reproduce it in a more controlled environment, but for now booting a SysRescueCD in a newly created VM and pressing the pipe key (with Shift), left of the BackSpace produces this log: 00:00:07.757 Guest Log: BIOS: KBD: int09h_handler(): unknown scancode read: 0x7d! Another key, left of the RightShift produces this: 00:11:30.894 Guest Log: BIOS: KBD: int09h_handler(): unknown scancode read: 0x73!
On the host those keys (from KeyPress event, serial 30, synthetic NO, window 0x3800001,

KeyRelease event, serial 30, synthetic NO, window 0x3800001,

Those keys are known to have caused problems before, but they worked till recently (January 2010?). I'll try to go back in versions to see where it changed. |

| #5369 | fixed | (mac 10.6.1 host) VirtualBox 3.0.10 fails to boot linux guest iso | ||
| Description |
Hi, The officially released version of ubuntu karmic server (i386 32-bit): http://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/ubuntu.iso/karmic/ubuntu-9.10-server-i386.iso Checksum: http://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/ubuntu.iso/karmic/ubuntu-9.10-server-i386.metalink Fails to boot into a brand new VM, platform: 10.6.1 Snow Leopard, with VirtualBox 3.0.10. No other configurations were tested. The Appropriate "Linux" and "Ubuntu" dropdown were choice, and "Linux"/"other", and "other"/"other" were tried. Various setting, changing Memory size, PAE on/off, etc. All to no avail. Just a black screen and nothing happens after mounting the ISO, and boot. The iso file is being mounted / read and the md5 checksums were found to be correct (no iso download error). VirtualBox shows the correct boot order for CD, HD, so it usually will work. Hopefully someone else can provide further data points with similar hardware / os to narrow down the issue. |
