#2783 fixed window is not resized when the X is restarted -> fixed in SVN Stéphane Charette
Description

When a Debian Etch 4 64-bit guest is taken from text-mode into X, the VirtualBox window is not resized correctly. It stays the same size as the 80x25 text-mode console. The X desktop is then incorrectly drawn within this too-small window. (See attached.)

Repro steps:

  1. start Debian Etch 4 64-bit guest
  2. start a terminal window
  3. at the prompt, type "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop"
  4. the VB window will be resized, and you should now be in a text-mode console window
  5. login
  6. type "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start"
  7. X will now start, but the VB window will remain the same size as it was for the text-mode console; the desktop will look "scrambled" as shown in the attached image

Note how the VB window wont correctly resize any bigger. It seems fixed at this size. (See attached image #2.)

To fix this problem:

  1. press: <HOST>+CTRL+F1
  2. one you are at the guest's text console, press ALT+F7 to return to X

The VB window will resize itself to accommodate the full desktop, and no redraw problem remains.

#2785 fixed Missing audio support in 64 bits Windows Vista and 7 guests DualShock
Description

Per forum thread at http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?t=12316, I am testing out running a Vista x64 SP1 (installed with integrated DVD) guest OS on a Windows XP Pro SP3 32 bit host. I have the proper 64 bit hardware and have configured the guest OS per the user manual for 2.1. I enabled sound using Windows DirectSound and ICH AC'97 options.

Sound is not working in the guest OS. Device Manager in the guest OS shows sound hardware, but no drivers were able to be installed for it (yellow exclamation mark).

#2786 fixed Having issues with Debian when AMD-V is turned on (erratum 170 CPU) Lawbayly
Description

After Installing Debian 4.0 r5 on my Windows XP 32bit PC, using VBOX 2.1 When I try and do the initial reboot after the install it crashes with lots of Swap File errors as follows:

swap free: Bad Swap file entry 00c00000

it will then either come up with a Segmentation error or if I'm lucky drop me to a busybox shell.

When I turned off AMD-V (hardware Virtualisation) and it worked fine, I posted this in the forum and according to sandervl, it's an issue with VirtualBox
