#4943 worksforme io apic resources could not be allocated rlshosting
Description

It says this on Fedora Core 11 and Ubuntu 9. I enabled IO ACPI and it does not show the error message but the load screen hangs.

I disabled ACPI and IO ACPI. It does the same thing. I increased the RAM and the video RAM. It does the same thing.

I do not know how to create a VBox.log.

It does this on Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2. Computer Specs:

http://emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T%20Series&model=T3626

Only difference is that I am running 2 GB of RAM, NVIDIA 8400GS, and a usb stick with ready boost.

#4914 obsolete invalid_color_depth error on direct3d giuliano
Description

Hello,

host is fedora 11 x86_64/VBox 3.0.4 r50677 guest is xp pro sp3 fully updated with addition 3.0.4 (incl 3d support) the game is world mosaic 2 (www.reflexive.com, demo aailable). When I start the game (play game button) all I get is a "fatal error - failed to initialize Direct3D: RESULT_INVALID_COLORDEPTH".

This happens also on another machine (fedora 11 i586/vbox 3.0.4/different install of xp pro).

Changind the color depth of the desktop to 16/24/32 bit) doesn't solve this.

I can provide furher testind/debug info (please tell me what you need)

thanks

#1104 fixed invalid symlink prevents directory from being listed ugemkow
Description

We are using Linux host and Windows XP guest with newest guest additions installed. We are using shared folder and have seen the following problem:

When in a subdirectory of a shared folder root a symlink is created which points to a file in the same directory which does not exist, an error happens when this directory is explored in the guest.

The following sequence shows this bug:

  • Create a subdirectory in a shared folder
    mkdir test
    cd test
  • create a file in this subdirectory and a symlink to this file
    touch test.txt
    ln -s test.txt test.txt.lnk
  • Explore this folder in the guest, all works and is displayed as expected
  • now rename the file the link points to
    mv test.txt test.txt.save
  • Now explore this folder again, this gives the error "Directory not accessible" in the guest
