| #12335 | fixed | CD insert notification trouble with SATA CD | ||
| Description |
I took a Fedora VM and added an IDE interface (in addition to the SATA interface already present). When inserting a CD image to the SATA image, the guest does not see the insertion unless I do something for force an access to the CD. For example, trying to mount the drive will then generate a media change. On the IDE interface, when I insert a CD image, the guest immediately sees the insertion. This is with up-to-date Fedora 19, Vbox 4.2.18 with 4.2.18 GAs. |

| #918 | fixed | CD with kernel 2.6.23 does not boot | ||
| Description |
Hello, The boot CD of my Gen2VDR Distri does not boot with VB 1.5.2 on a Win2K Host. With vmware and "normal" PC's this iso boots as usual. The behaviour is very strange. VB starts booting from the iso image, but then it tries to boot from root /dev/hda ( which is not available ). The bootable part is here: http://www.htpc-forum.de/gen2vdr/2.0/files/tst.iso The bootup log is attached, tthe strange part is: 00:00:10.090 PIIX3 ATA: LUN#0: no unit 00:00:10.090 PIIX3 ATA: LUN#1: no unit 00:00:10.093 PIIX3 ATA: LUN#2: CD/DVD, total number of sectors 3500, passthrough enabled 00:00:10.093 PIIX3 ATA: LUN#3: no unit ... 00:00:15.704 PIT: mode=2 count=0x10000 (65536) - 18.20 Hz (ch=0) 00:00:15.704 PIIX3 ATA: Ctl#1: RESET, DevSel=0 AIOIf=0 CmdIf0=0x00 (-1 usec ago) CmdIf1=0x00 (-1 usec ago) 00:00:15.705 PIIX3 ATA: Ctl#1: finished processing RESET 00:00:16.013 Guest Log: BIOS: Booting from Hard Disk... 00:00:22.377 Guest Log: BIOS: KBD: unsupported int 16h function 03 |

| #15233 | invalid | CD/DVD Drive Disappeared in Windows XP Guest | ||
| Description |
I have several Windows XP 32 bit guest virtual machines on Windows 8.1 64 host. On more than one of these the CD/DVD has disappeared. No matter what settings are changed under storage in the manager for the cd/dvd drive it doesn't show up. It's like the driver disappeared on the guest. The issue has been there since version 4.3 and I'm not exactly sure when it disappeared. The CD/DVD drive does not show up under the hardware tree in windows or under My Computer as shown in the attached image. It appears to be there from the virtual box side of things but since it isn't in windows I cannot access it. This is a physical internal drive, not USB and I can see it on other Windows XP 32 bit machines I have, as shown in another attached picture. Not knowing exactly how this is virtualized through virtual box my assumption is the driver for Windows got corrupted somehow and needs to get reinstalled??? I was able to install guest additions through an iso mounter and a shared folder in hopes this might correct it but no change. |
