#108 fixed keyboard stays grabbed when vbox has no focus xerces8
Description

Sometimes vbox keeps the keyboard even if the user switched focus to other applications.

These step reproduce the problem on my system (Win2000 SP4, vbox 1.3.6):

  • have some windows open (notepad , firefox etc)
  • have virtualbox started and start one virtual machine (I had windows running inside it, without vbox additions, since it was a new install)
  • host Windows task bar is set to "AutoHide" (I don't know if this is important)
  • type something in notepad
  • move the mouse to the bottom, so that the task bar appears
  • click the virtual guest window on the task bar
  • wait a few seconds (do not move the mouse pointer away from the task bar)
  • click the same button again

now the focus is back in the notepad window, but the keys do not work, the are grabbed by virtual box

#1113 fixed keyboard problems when installing Windows XP as a Guest on an Ubuntu Gutsy Host Sergio Callegari
Description

When trying to install Windows XP as a Guest on an Ubuntu Gutsy host, the following problem happens:

1) First part of installation (text mode) starts fine 2) Then windows reboots and enters in second part of installation (graphics mode) 3) If you run this session with mouse and keyboard grabbed... 4) You will soon realize that the keyboard is grabbed but does not pass any key to the guest os 5) For instance at a certain point the installer asks your name and organization and you cannot type them 6) At this point also the host key to ungrab keyboard and mouse will not work.

So it is not possible to install Windows XP as a guest os.

#15928 fixed keyboard not working infinity
Description

The keyboard does not work for guest when I updated from 5.1.4 to 5.1.6, my host is Windows 10 and guest is Oracle Linux 7.2. When I start the VM using "Headless Start" or "Detachable Start" the keyboard does not work, but if I start the VM using "Normal Start" the keyboard works properly.
