#12304 wontfix keystrokes reach both the host AND the guest even when the VM is capturing keyboard matteo sisti sette
Description

When I hit the "Window" (also called "super") key or the Alt key, even if the icon on the status bar says the virtual machine _is_ capturing keyboard input, BOTH the guest AND the host react to the keystroke.

So for example, when using Internet Explorer or the File Explorer within the window guest, if I hit the Alt key in order to have the application's menu show up, it works, but it also makes the Dash searchbox show up on the ubuntu host at the same time.

This is not only annoying, this makes the guest almost unusable.

Note that the first time I ran the VM, I got an informative message that explicitely told me that keyboard input was being captured and that it would NOT get to the host.

This is a regression. I don't remember which was the last version I had used of VB but this definitely didn't use to happen (and the host was ubuntu too).

This happens whether or not mouse integration is enabled, whenever keyboard input is being captured.

#14763 invalid keystrokes out of order -> guest operating system problem adamf
Description

I am finding that virtualbox frequently gets into a state where it isn't handling keystrokes properly, in order.

For example, I was trying to type 'information'. First try got 'ifnormation', second try got 'informatoin', third try 'infnoramtion'. Only when I slow down to about 10wpm and watch every keystroke is it correct. As I type up this ticket on the windows host, I'm typing at 100wpm with no errors.

Host: win7 Guest: ubuntu 14.x (also seen with an ubuntu 12.x guest)

Simply saving and restoring the VM fixes the problem.

#1380 fixed keystrokes missing with VirtualBox Hugo Ideler
Description

Laptop Setup:

Host: Ubuntu Linux Gutsy

Guest: WinXP SP2

When I run VirtualBox I noticed that some keystrokes get lost. I tested this with typing in a terminal window with VirtualBox running and not running, but it happens everywhere. It occurs in the Virtualbox window (so in the guest), but also in all my linux Apps running.

Interestingly, when I pause my guest OS (Host+P), the problems go away.

I also noticed that my synaptics touchpad misses strokes with my finger under the same conditions. They also get lost and not delayed. With an usb mouse no such problem is noticed.

I don't think I had this problem right away. But I can't pinpoint when it started...

I tried to relate it CPU, but the problems do not exist with a "find /". Then no input gets lost. Also relating it to memory usage does not make sence, since then pausing VirtualBox would not help.
