| #1464 | fixed | Windows XP guest hangs on boot with network adapter enabled on Ubuntu 8.04 host | ||
| Description |
I have installed Virtualbox 1.6.0 on an x86_64 Intel machine running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron as a host. After installing Windows XP Professional (the 32-bit version) as a guest, the guest hangs when it boots up. The guest boots normally and does not hang if the emulated network adapter is disabled. Both of the PCnet-FAST adapters cause the guest to hang. The Intel network adapter doesn't cause a hang, but that's probably only because I haven't installed Windows XP drivers for it. In fact, if the driver for any network adapter is installed after the guest boots then it works fine, and it won't hang until the guest is rebooted. This bug applies to Virtualbox 1.5.6, 1.6.0, and possibly other versions that I haven't tested. This is not a regression in 1.6.0; it is a new problem that started after I upgraded from Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon to Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron.
There is a workaround:
This bug may be related to, or a duplicate of, bug #1460. Others have not reported any problems with the Hardy Heron host, so this bug may be specific to x86_64. I've attached logs of the PCnet-Fast adapters causing a hang. |

| #1465 | invalid | Unable to initialize VB 1.6.0 on Vista Home Premium. Need to remove it | ||
| Description |
I just installed the latest version of Virtualbox (1.6) on a Vista Home Premium machine. I have tried everything to make it work. All I get is a blank screen, no errors. I would like to remove it completely from my pc, using add / remove programs. However, I'm getting the following error. "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2738" Help! Thanks, |

| #1466 | fixed | announced backward compatibility link "VBoxVRDP->VBoxHeadless" is wrong in Windows => Fixed in SVN | ||
| Description |
quoted manual: "VirtualBox therefore comes with yet another front-end that produces no visible output on the host at all, but instead only delivers VRDP data. With VirtualBox 1.6, this “headless server” is now aptly called VBoxHeadless. (In previous versions, it was called VBoxVRDP. For the sake of backwards compatibility, the VirtualBox installation still installs an executable with that name as well.)" So the link should be going by the name of "VBoxVRDP", but it is actually "VBoxRDP" with a missing second "V" instead. This brings up some compatibility issues with (e.g.) my contributed project "VBoxVmService" or any secondary software, that would call the deprecated "VBoxVRDP" command... |
