| #15087 | worksforme | VirtualBox not handling dll certificate properly - blocking startup of VMs | ||
| Description |
I am unable to start any VMs in VirtualBox 5.0.14 running on Windows 7. I have BeyondTrust's PowerBroker software installed, and the certificate date on one of its DLLs is expired. As this thread points out: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=69580 VB is not handling expired certificates properly, since the consensus is that a certificate is still valid as long as it was valid at the time the code is signed. My VBHardening.log file is attached.[[]] |

Fresh installation of VB 4.0.2 on Windows 7 Ultimate N x64. Installation finishes, however, upon initial launch, we are given the following error: 'VirtualBox - Critical Error Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object. The Application will now terminate. Callee RC: TYPE_E_ELEMENTNOTFOUND (0x8002802b) Have verified that the service exists, and that all settings for VB.exe and the SVC.exe are set to run as administrator (UAC is off, and rebooted). Doesn't seem to want to start. |

| #1676 | fixed | Guest cannot boot from SATA port 4 => use VBoxManage | ||
| Description |
It appears that in both my Linux Host as well as my Windows host using Virtualbox 1.6.2 I am unable to boot when the primary disk is set to SATA port 4 (non IDE emulated SATA AHCI). The error that appears: FATAL: Could not read from the boot medium! System halted. Hitting F12 shows no hard disk detected. However if I change the port to SATA port 0 (IDE Emulated) then the machine boots fine. Also note that I created a Virtual Machine along with a new image with the same result. Attached is the log file for reference/review from my Linux host. I can supply the Windows Vista host log file as well if required. |
