| #5807 | obsolete | VirtualBox Guest Additions volume name should include the minor version | ||
| Description |
I'm using VirtualBox 3.1.2 The volume name is: /Volumes/VBOXADDITIONS_3./ That's 16 characters, it looks ugly, and doesn't tell me about the minor version. I had this problem originally when I was booted into save mode in w7, because it's the underlying volume label. If I was not booted into safe mode, i'd see the description from autorun.inf: label=VirtualBox Guest Additions Which doesn't even tell me the major version. As it happens, I had 2 vbox guest addition iso's because at one point someone had asked me to try one. It would be possible to use this label format instead: /Volumes/VBOXGUEST_3.1_2/ That's only 15 characters which leaves space for both: /Volumes/VBOXGUEST_3.1_10/ and /Volumes/VBOXGUEST_3.10_1/ (although if someone needs both, they're out of luck, but it's still better than today.) |

| #5970 | duplicate | The VirtualBox Guest Additions Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). | ||
| Description |
Guest: w7x64, 1 cpu, 1gb ram Host: OS X 10.5.8, MacBook Pro dual core, 4gb ram I noticed recently that when i restore my w7 vm the time is out of sync, so i've been periodically using Windows's internet time sync feature to force a manual sync. In the past, i never needed to do this. I'm not sure when this started and I don't have many snapshots. Unfortunately, because time sync is bad, the timestamps I have from the windows event log are going to be bogus or at least incredibly unreliable. So, my system has event logs from at least Feb 2009 (including bonjour crashing their abouts). I don't know offhand how to see when the various versions of virtualbox guest additions were added. But I think it's relatively safe to say this is a recent regression, probably 3.1/3.1.1/3.1.2. I'm going to attach an ntsd to the service to see if i can catch it. |
