#8083 obsolete Virtualbox-4.0.0-69151-OSX.dmg fails to install, but installs anyway? Penelope Fudd
Description

This MacOSX Snowleopard 10.6.6 (just updated) system had VirtualBox-3.2.4-62467-OSX.dmg installed, and today I attempted to upgrade to VB 4.0.0-69151. Downloaded the dmg, opened it, double-clicked on VirtualBox.mpkg, clicked next, next, next until it got to the last step (Summary), where it said:

There were errors with the installation. You may want to try installing again.

<!>

The installation failed.

The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

In /var/log/system.log, I found this: Jan 14 10:17:51 shechinah VirtualBoxVM[364]: VirtualBoxVM(364,0x111901000) malloc: * error for object 0x10380ce08: incorrect checksum for freed object - object was probably modified after being freed.\n* set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug Jan 14 10:17:55 shechinah ReportCrash[367]: Saved crash report for VirtualBoxVM[364] version 3.2.4 (3.2.4) to /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/VirtualBoxVM_2011-01-14-101755_shechinah.crash

I've attached the crash report.

However, when I started VB to report what version I was upgrading from, it claimed 4.0.0!

This successful "failure" is not the way things are supposed to work; it makes the product look bad.

#8089 obsolete Guru Meditation when stressing hostonlyif on FreeBSD 8.1 Host OS Ryan Stone
Description

I can reproducibly cause a Guru Meditation in VirtualBox 3.2.10 by stressing a host-only network. The simplest way that I've found to reproduce the issue was to use netperf to send large amounts of traffic in between the host(rstone-laptop) and the guest(vm-head). The host is running FreeBSD 8.1. The guest is running FreeBSD HEAD. Here are the steps that I ran to reproduce the crash:

On rstone-laptop: # netserver -p 22113

On vm-head: # netperf -H rstone-laptop -p 22113 -l 1000000

I got the Guru Meditation after about 5-10 minutes. I'll attach the VBox.log.

#8097 obsolete USB - VB freezes when Logitech camera redirected (reproduceable) danf84
Description

This has been tested on my colleagues computer (Dell AMD with Win7 x64) and my own, Dell Vostro 1720 (Centrino, Intel DC P8600 Win7 x64).

While VM is running, redirecting USB at first attempt caused Windows not to install the VirtualBox USB driver, on second attempt VirtualBox VM and the GUI EXEs froze.

Webcam model: Logitech QuickCam 3000 - Model No: V-U0001 (latest driver, lws_bpg200.exe)

Host: Windows 7 X64 Enterprise Guest: Windows XP SP3 (updated as of 15 JAN 2011)

Thanks
