| #7793 | obsolete | the "New Virtual Machine Wizard" is too restrictive with names | ||
| Description |
The wizard for creating new virtual machines uses the name to guess the OS for the intended guest. But the current behaviour disallows arbitrary names (at least on a Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit host). For example:
In conclusion, the wizard makes it impossible to have arbitrary names for various guest OS combinations. The name must contain specific strings that correspond to that combination. |

| #7799 | obsolete | Modules cannot be unloaded on Solaris 10 | ||
| Description |
On a patched Solaris 10U9, when trying to update from 3.2.10 to 3.2.12, the system refuses to unload the modules. # modinfo | grep vbox 150 fffffffff04c9808 a90 226 1 vboxnet (VirtualBox NetAdp 3.2.10r66523) 152 fffffffff0524000 27db0 34 1 vboxdrv (VirtualBox HostDrv 3.2.10r66523) 216 fffffffff0e3c000 7230 227 1 vboxflt (VirtualBox NetDrv 3.2.10r66523) 216 fffffffff0e3c000 7230 - 1 vboxflt (VirtualBox NetMod 3.2.10r66523) # modunload -i 150 can't unload the module: Device busy # modunload -i 152 can't unload the module: Device busy # modunload -i 216 can't unload the module: Device busy VirtualBox was closed before starting to pkgrm, and after uninstall, ifconfig -a reports no vboxnet anymore. FWIW, the same happened when upgrading from 3.2.8 to 3.2.10 on a patched S10u8 at the time. I know a reboot will clear this, but it is not always practical to reboot only for a virtualBox upgrade. |

| #7800 | obsolete | TurboTax 2010 will not install, if guest additions are installed | ||
| Description |
I have successfully used VirtualBox since it first came out. This is the first problem that I have had with it. Since I haven't had a problem I did not know to make sure what log file showed the problem first. I am attaching four log files to this. Host Fedora 13; Guest Windows XP (all updates): Guest Additions installed This year TurboTax would not install. I tried repeatedly. I have access to another Windows XP so I tried to install TruboTax there and it worked. Then I had an idea. I created a new machine and loaded Windows XP. I did not install the Guest additions on the new machine. TurboTax install and ran just fine. I removed the machine, made another one, loaded the guest additions, and tried to load TurboTax. It did not install. I removed the machine, made another machine, loaded Windows XP, without the Guest Additions, and TurboTax installed and ran.just fine. I am moving every thing over to the new machine, so I can live with what I have. I just think that you should know about this. The turbo tax error message is "1935 an error occurred during installation" I hope that you can find this and correct it. Bob Laughlin |
